Sysex and Uploading Sounds.

2004-04-08 by Abdulmalek Hamsho

Hi,

1- What can Sysex give me exactly?
2- Can I upload a custom sounds into DTXPress II, and use it as kit (like
DDrum 4)?

I searched the archive, but I couldn't get the clear answers.

Thanks.

No.

Sysex allows you to send and receive data to and from the DTXpress
module. This means that you can save kit configurations on your
computer, edit them there and send them back.

Unfortunately not. Only the data relating to the settings on the
module are sent and received. The samples used for the sounds
are 'hard-wired' and can not be changed.

Sysex is basically the operating system and associated data. It is
pretty much self-contained, allowing you only to down- and upload
information in its own format--that is, kits and their parameters--so
long as you have the room.

No. This is a rare privilege thus far; very few of the existing
modules allow anything remotely, or efficiently, like this
capability. Ddrum 4 allows it under certain conditions, but it
doesn't have much memory for reconstituted samples. The upcoming
DTXTIIS will probably be the best bet for that feature.
