Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Just tried out the new express special.  I have to say I dont like 
the small snare size.  Can the snare be upgraded w/o losing the 3 
zones?

Joe,

Not really. But if you upgraded to a dual-zone 10" or 14" mesh snare, 
you could program the rim (input 9 or 10) to a cross-stick sound so 
that hitting it together with the head (input 2) will give you a 
rimshot of sorts. It satisfies some people, though it's not exactly 
accurate.

True, not at the moment anyway. But I'm kinda hoping the new TP120S 
(DTXtremeII 3-zone snare) will work with the DTXpress. That would be 
a nice upgrade. But &Deity knows when it'll be available as a 
separate item.

I'm having a heck of a time waiting for the ExtremeIIs to come out.  I want 
to buy a kit NOW!  I was set on a Hart Dynamics kit with a roland TD-8 until 
I looked over the literature on the IIs.  I just dont know how long I can 
wait.  The IIIspecial is looking good too with its nice price tag.  Just 
dont like that snare.

Go the Riksmusic.com, get their phone number, and ask them when they 
expect to get the DTXTIIS (stress "honestly"). You may be pleasantly 
surprised. Then let us know what they say.
