dtxpress module

2004-05-03 by jodela49

Greetings: Just signed up and have a question. I have an opp. to
upgrade my dtxpress one module to a dtxpress two. Do you think that
there is much of a difference.

Thanks, Jerry

Welcome Jerry,

The difference lies mainly in the "three-zone" capability of the II,
which would allow you take full advantage of Yamaha's new round
bell/bow/edge cymbal, its head/cross stick/rimshot snare, and its new
hi hat on a stand. Other than that, there isn't much difference until
you get to the DTXpress III, which adds new sounds and lists
compatibility with more pad types. The questions are whether you are
interested in this new combination of features and components and how
much you're willing to pay for them.

Ed: Thanks for the quick reply. I am only upgrading the module and keeping
the pads. Will I get all the capabilities thay you described with my old pads
and cymbals?

Thanks again, Jerry

Jerry,

No, the DTXPI pads and cymbals don't have the capabilities that I
described. You'd have to buy new ones, but if you can't do it now, at
least you'd have the option later. The new module by itself won't get
you much that you don't already have now.

Ed: Thanks for the quick reply. You saved me a few hundred bucks. FYI,
there is a dtx 2 module on ebay right now the bid is 182.00. Type in dtxpress and
it will come up. Again, much thanks for the tip.

I just checked, and it's gone up to $219. It will be interesting to
see how much the bid goes up in this final thirty minutes for a
relatively newly discontinued entry-level "stereo" module, especially
in light of Keith's projected price for the magic box, which is
looking better all the time.
