machine gun base trigger

2004-05-08 by jodela49

Greetings, When I am playing along with a cd with my dtxpress one
kit, my base drum is "machine gun triggering". I know if I search
the manual, I could proberbly solve it myself, but I have gotten
spoiled with this great forum. I can stop it by tapping the base
drum again, but when I continue, it does it again. Help please,
Thanks, Jerry

does it only happen when you are playing along with a cd?

How you changed any of the settings in the module accidentally
recently?

Check the cable connection first. If you have ever plugged in the
cable jack into or out of a pad with the module on, you will notice
the piezo will trigger.

So it could be a loose connection in the cable or in the jack itself.

Try using an another cable. If that doesn't do anything, then it
could be a loose connection inside the pad itself.

Also, to eliminate the possibility that it is in the module itself,
you can try plugging a TP60 pad into trigger input no. 1 and changing
the trigger type from a KP to a TP type pad. (And if it only happens
when you play along to a cd, try using the TP in input no. 1 with the
cd playing. IF it works fine, then you can eliminate the module at
the problem. By using a known working cable, you can also eliminate
the cable as an issue. You can also try plugging the KP into a
different input, say number 3 and see if it machine guns. If it does
then the KP is the problem.

Try these things, and let us know the results. If these things don't
work then you might have changed a setting in the module, like the
KEY OFF setting.

OGD: I went baack t factory settings, and I think it took care of the
problem. Yes I have been surfing the module, and possibly hit a wrong button. I
will let you know if the problem persists. Thanks for the quick reply. Jerry

I wish I had that problem, I wouldn't have to buy the double bass
pedals. I bet you can kick "Hot for Teacher" like there was no
tomorrow.

Jerry,

Check to see where your mains cables run. When I was looking at
signals from the pads into my magic box with my oscilloscope it
started happening and I think was caused by the oscilloscope mains
cable running past the kick drum cable. The kick drum cable is the
only one that trails near the floor where the mains cables are.

Keith.

Keith: I went back to factory setting, and it seems to have fixed the problem
for now. I haven't made my new adjustments yet, but will let you know if it
happens again, Thanks, Jerry
