eBay users beware

eBay users beware

2004-06-16 by moosetication

There's been a spate of scams tried recently with fraudulent
listings of Hart Pro 6.4 kits especially in the UK. There's one up
right now. Item #3730897581. It has all the hallmarks:

- zero feedback seller
- ridiculous price (£300 for £2500 item)
- suspicous story
- poor english
- no cash or collection
- Western Union payment only

I have reported it to eBay.

Always find a reason to ask the seller a question. Ask for local
pickup in exchange for cash. This will generally give you all you
need. Here's this seller's reply to me when I asked him why it was
so cheap and if it could be cash on collection:

"That is the starting price Sir.I want more!!!Don`t worry for the
shipping because my cousin work`s at one of the Fedex company from
here and will help me to shipp it verry faster and will cost me
around 30£.My paypal account is not reactivated and as payment i
want to use Western Union service because it is the fastest service
in world and eassy. If you are still interested to buy please e-maill
me back with your best offer"

I have no reason to think that the same scams won't be tried with
Yamaha gear. Caveat bidder, and all that.

They had a few up there for Pintech already.......
I had them pulled and banded....but we all see how
well that worked.
It was reported to me by the guys at Pintech UK.
I'll keep my eyes out and if I see an more, I'll send
them to ebay too......also if any of you see them on
our gear, PLEASE let me know. I hate when my dealers
think they are getting screwed and I hate to think of
it happening to someone trying to buy one of our kits.
Later all,
Brian

That's why I don't use e-Bay to buy stuff.
