RE: [DTXpress] Using a foot pedal as a control to dec value of dr um kit

Nancy,

I just posted a response on www.dtxpressions.com
<http://www.dtxpressions.com> to a question of inc/dec the kit. It is
under Misc. Discussions/ changing your kit mid-song". That is the sister
site to this one. You can use any pad, but I am not sure the hihat pedal
will work unless you are willing to giving the hihat input all together. One
way is to get a BP80 barpad, which has two trigger pads, using one for
Increment and the other for Decrement. You can also use a single pad, but
then you would be limited in what you can do.

Hold on, before I completely repeat what I said there, let me just post it
here.

To set a pad permanently to an increment or decrement pad, that doesn't
change assignment even when you change kit numbers go to the trigger setup
menus.

[shift-trig]

Page down to the menu that looks like this:

TRIG Common
IncIn=4 DecIn= 5

The numbers "4" indicates you want to select pad input no. 4 for the
Increment pad and "5" indicates you want to select pad input no. 5 for the
Decrement pad. The numbers can be --(none), 1-10.

================================

If you just want to use a pad as an increment/decrement pad for one or two
kits, then you use the Drum Kit edit mode:

In this example, let's assume that input 9 will increment by one when struck
in user kit no. 60 and input 9 will also be used to decrement by one in kit
61. Thus by striking the input pad that is connected to input 9 when kit 60
is active the kit number will change to kit 61. When the active kit is set
to 61, striking the pad connected to input 9 will decrement to kit 60.

Start by going into the voice edit mode for the specific pad you want to
setup, in this case input 9.

First, go to the user kit 60 (just an example).
Press the voice button, page down until you get this screen:

KIT IN=Pad 9
Func= normal

Tab through the Function selections until you get:

KIT IN=Pad 9
Func= inc drumkit

This assigns pad 9 as an increment function only when you have kit 60
selected as the active kit.

Press the SAVE/ENT button twice, kit 60 has now been setup. Don't worry
about any of the other voice settings for Pad 9, because they have now been
disabled when you are in kit 60.

Second, go to the user kit 61 (just an example).
Press the voice button, page down until you get this screen:

KIT IN=Pad 9
Func= normal

Tab through the Function selections until you get:

KIT IN=Pad 9
Func= dec drumkit

This assigns pad 9 as an decrement function only when you have kit 61
selected as the active kit.

Press the SAVE/ENT button twice, kit 61 has now been setup. Don't worry
about any of the other voice settings for Pad 9, because they have now been
disabled when you are in kit 61.

Now when you are in kit 60 and you strike pad 9 the kit will increment, when
you are in kit 61 and you strike pad the kit will decrement.

Remeber you can setup any combination, for example you can set it up to
start at kit 60, then goes to 61, then to 62, then to 63... so that kit 60
can be the first song on the play list, 62 can be the second song on the
play list and so on. Thus you can set up to 32 kits for 32 songs, one kit
per song in the play list. If you use the same kit for songs
1,3,7,10,22,23,24, just setup the common kit settings in the first kit and
then copy it to the other kits. Also if you save the drumkit as the song
name or song types, you can easily see if you have the right kit selected.
You can setup user kits 48, 49, 50, 51, 52 as say "master" kit types and
then when you know your song list, you can just copy these to the
appropriate user kits, from 53 and higher.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [DTXpress] Using a foot pedal as a control to dec value of drum kit

Hello to anyone out there who can answer this question:

I am wondering if I can program the brain of my dtxpressII so that it is
possible to use an extra hihat pedal as a control to be able to switch from
one kit sound to another and back again. Is this what the Func parameter can
do if it is set to "dec drumkit"? If yes than how would I program such a
thing? Would it be done through the Voice Edit Mode? Could somebody give me
a step by step procedure to follow. I may have misunderstood and
overestimated the capability of this module. It would be quite handy to be
able to switch between drum kit sounds even in one direction. I am assuming
that going "inc drum kit" would require another input source. PLeas advise,
and thank you for your help
