The one mod for the DW8000 I know of and have used for years was called Turbo 8000 and was made by a company named Angel City Audio. This person wrote patch librarys
for the DW and their ad appears in the classifieds of old Keyboard Magazine's after 85'.
The mod enabled the DW to have splits and layers of four voices each. So you could have 4 different DWGS waveforms in a layer with a slight limitation of the selection of the waves available. I have never heard of anyone who burned an alternative waveform set for the DW. The Turbo 8000 also gave you 8 banks of the 64 patches , very convienient , and more MIDI options , such as the ability to send & receive on 2 different channels.
It was a simple install procedure , just plug in a chip inside the dw box. It was about $200. at the time. Maybe on Ebay. I still love my DW8000 & DW6000.

DW8000 question

2003-12-15 by Jery Winters

Hello! I'm on the DW8000 usergroup of Yahoo's and would like to know if
there are any programs out there that would let me edit and shuffle voices
on my DW8K via my PC. I'm very much a luddite and have difficulty doing
websearches for such resources. I do have a MIDI to D15 pc cable which came
with the synth.

Any resources you may be able to steer me to, I'd greatly appreciate.

Sincerely,

Jery Winters

ps- know anything about pre-programmed rhythm tracks for Alesis SR16 drum
machines?? Can't find much on that either!

Angel City Turbo

I just picked up another DW-8000 (to supplement the one I bought new
in '85). It has the Angel City Turbo Option. Does anyone have a
manual for how this works? (I figured out some of it). Also, I have
an MEX-8000 memory expander and would love to have a manual for that
as well. Thanks -
Terry

Thanks a million - I now have the Turbo manual. If you have the MEX-
8000 one I'd love to get a copy and would gladly compensate you for
your effort. Thanks again -
Terry

I have an MEX-8000 manual and probably a PDF for it, or else I can make it into one, I'll
post it and send you a copy.

I also have all the Angel City Turbo info.

The MEX-8000 manual is now posted in the Files section. Go get it from there! (No
compensation required.)

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
