dw-6000 problems

2004-04-08 by subboy

hey yall...hope everyone is having fun...i just need someone to
confirm my suspicions!!! i just picked up a dw-6000 for 10 bucks!!
the guy i bought it from claimed that it only made 1 sound, and that
it was uncontrolable. i just opened it up, and the first thing i did
was to check the internal battery!!! it looks as if someone had
tried to replace the battery at some point in time, but failed
miserably!!! they had a 3v button cell taped to the board!!! if i
am correct in my theorys...by replacing the battery with the correct
one, in the correct manner will probably restore the functions of the
synth!!! please someone confirm this theory...i dont want to think i
spent all those years as an electronics tech. for nothing!!!

thanks all, rev. walt

Is the keyboard outputting erratic filter sweeps and self-oscillation?

Is the noise used a LOT in patches?

Are there akward patches that change every time the synth starts up?

If these are correct, you have a battery problem.

This can be fixed by replacing the taped battery with a soldered
battery.

VERY COMMON PROBLEM!

Good luck!
