I did find some more pertinent information, but your reply has been very helpful as well. I was concerned that the 7600 might be too outdated to run this sort of B&W setup, but your response has shown that not to be the case. I'm sure I'll have more questions once I start the procedure, so be prepared for the barrage. A small amount of the intended ink is also used as a final rinse to minimize any dilution of the final inks. I use a syringe with a modified MIS bottom fill adapter to open the Epson cart valves.
