I have four R1800, and a R800. The only time I had head clogging problems with these printers, was when I used third party inks. Because of the cost of wasted time, printer maintenance, and wasted ink, I found using the OEM less expensive. I have wasted thousands of dollars trying different CIS, refillable cartridges, different inks, making profiles, all the results were unsatisfactory. Life is much simpler when one does not need to fight clogging. Print making much more enjoyable. he good news is that returning to OEM inks will reverse the problems caused by third party inks.
