I am thinking that once again there are factors at play beyond our realm of experience. The uncoated Arches tests currently at Aardenberg are mine. My primary interest in the submission was to test our assumptions about the fallibility of the inkjet receptor coatings, a concern of all of ours from the beginning. Mark then rightly requested an ABW sample to run concurrently to fill in more knowledge gaps.
Even though they are only at the 20 Mlux hrs point, they have not done as well as the same inks on some of the coated papers, though well. Of course all this will shift around over time, but I'm not getting the sense the Arches, at least with UCK3mk, will represent the pinnacle of longevity amongst the papers primarily because it's cotton without them pesky coatings I love to blame.
Now they very well may reign supreme with Paul's ink recommended in this thread, and they will probably do well overall.
But this is an additional example of how much we still have to learn, how little presumption we should be doing, and more specifically, how no single process component can be evaluated thoroughly without being considered part of the whole, and then really only the entire process, method (how about the GCR associated with various media settings?), ink, paper, etc etc..
.. and then, the results only speak to the system, not just the paper, or the ink, etc etc...
I don't mean to divert the thread, I just thought the Arches results were noteworthy so far.
