Randall,
I have been looking at a lot of sites recently in thoughts of following your
path. I enjoy your site much more than some of the other sites I have
encountered. The trend seems to be an over population of links and distratcting
images causing confusion. On the oppostite end of the spectrum are the sites I
consider to be truly professional- clean, simple, and to the point. It is clean,
simple, intuitive, and offers solid information for interested customers without
giving away trade secrets. Navigation is fairly easy once the viewer realizes
there are hidden arrows on the left & right sides of the main page images.
On the other hand, if you aren’t, I would still take a look around to see how
many other sites are using similar color scheme. Not keeping track of it, it is
common for us B&W folks to use grey tones in a B&W web site. I personally don’t
know how to compliment the artistic value any other way than to use a
complimenting color scheme. Add texture and structure. Now we know why I haven’t
pursued a photo-based website.
The only item I would personally adjust is the background to move away from the
"Lightroom" color scheme. I do like the simple greytones scheme, though. Maybe
add some zone 3 textured background to add depth.
All in all, I would rate it 9 out of 10 for aesthetics and ease of use- I like
it.
For your art work- it’s off the scale, leaving me drooling on my keyboard. It is
simply beautiful.
Phil
I am assuming you are using a Photoshelter canned web site template. If you are,
then, if you haven’t done so already, take a look around to see how many other
photographers have used the same color scheme. If there are a high number of
Photoshelter clients using the same scheme, you may want to deviate from the
norm. It is hard to be unique when you look like everyone else. This is also a
downside of canned websites- lack of personality.

Subject: [Digital BW] New Website
Group Members,
I have enjoyed this group for a long time and have learned a huge a lot.
I have done black & white landscape photography for many years but have kept my
photos mostly to myself. I continue to shoot only 4inch x 5inch film but have
been scanning my negatives during the last few years and printing digitally
(44inch wide HP Z3100). I believe that I have been getting wonderful quality in
large prints.
Well, I finally launched a website to "show off" some of my images. I would be
interested in any comments that members of this group can make about either my
images or my website. My website address is:
www.RandallRBreseePhoto.com
Please take a look and let me know what you think.
Thanks in advance,
Randall R Bresee.
