As a very happy Fuji s1 user, I am interested in the S2. Yes, the D100 and S2 are both based on the N80 body. Nikon presumably could not use the F100, as that would make the D100 too much like the D1x. At this stage in the game, I think the sensor / electronics are more important than the body, provided the body is good enough, which I guess the N80 is. The Fuji S2 uses an advanced proprietory sensor: I'd expect it to win out in image quality, but if not, my Nikon lenses also fit the Nikon or Kodak lines :-)...
