jimbo et al, I should add that I don't claim my book was worth that much! The buyer, and the person who came in second, were bidding for a good cause, to raise money for the library. I'd suspect too, he got some tax write-off. The winner got not just a book of photos, but a book artfully bound by a local guy who's keeping the craft of bookbinding alive - and - was supporting a local public good. I doubt very much anyone would pay that much without these other factors!
