Very interesting. Maybe Epson really is deciding it can't control the market, so it might as well participate as a competitor. The ease of tapping into the Noritsu carts may have been well recognized by Epson way before I noticed the opportunity. We'll see if they sell this printer in the U.S. Also, they are being very quiet about whether the ink is Claria or old 1280 style dye, although I can't imagine any company wanting anything to do with old style dyes. I'd guess that the "alliance" (Fujifilm, Epson, & Noritsu) is simply entering the high volume market and has decided they have the capacity and low enough costs to take a huge chunk of it with their advanced dye technology and still make very good returns. I think this is probably good news for those of us who want the advanced dyes to be readily available. I doubt the "alliance" will bother us if they're entering the market at this "CIS" level.
