I use the 3800 also and I really like it.  I also print with a Canon i9900 and I like it as well.  I'd hate to have to give either one up.  

If and when you try the 3000, I'll be very interested in a comparison with the 3800.  Unless I could get one awfully cheap tho, I doubt if I'd replace my 3800.  I like the nice "out of the box" B/W I keep getting from it. :-)  Harry
