Re: [Digital BW] "silver" prints from digital systems?

Steadman -

Yes - I believe it is a fifth ink color. Actually, a more correct term would be that it is probably a quadratone process with a fourth color being the metallic silver ink. All of the ads have it and most of the images in the magazine. Hold one up the the light and you'll see the reflection. I don't have a copy here but if you don't see it, I'll get one and report back. The inside cover is often the most obvious if I remember correctly.

Thanks!

Brian

  Brian,

  What do you mean?

You say a "fifth in color." Does that mean a "fifth ink color?"

I have all the copies of BW magazine. Point me to a specific page and image and I will give an opinion.

This is a bit obscure but I have been looking at the images in B+W magazine and noticed that they are using a 5th in color that appears to be a true silver shiny ink. The images have a certain luminence that I would like to reproduce in my digital printing. Is there a way (custom MIS sets?) to get this same look? My experience with Piezo inks to date has been good but they are more brown than cool in tone and certainly not silver.

    Thanks!

    Brian
