The "Eboni-4 Plus" takes the same approach but also puts a cool ink in the LC spot so the Epson driver gives an even tone across the board.  See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Eboni-4-Plus.pdf  So, it's an easier, smoother way to get to about the same place.

(I stuff in Noritsu [claria] dyes and use them for glossy, using the Eb4 100% for matte fine art, but the UT14 C and LC are the simple, off the shelf solution people ought to start with if they want to go this route.)
