On Mac it gets installed from the profiles folder that came with the download deeper into the libraries under printer ppds etc... don't recall exactly where but you can find it.. the whys of this stuff stopped being fascinating years ago... I just do it and get to work...
But I don't think it's just moved there, the install is important.
Not sure that is why you are getting improper results though, if it shows up on the list in the QTR dialog for selection it got installed. Can you print the ink sep file in calibration mode to make sure all inks are printing and look correct?
