it's the Mac/Adobe/Epson color management nightmare. The file should have been untagged so conversion not possible, rather it should be assigned sRGB, then additionally sRGB is chosen as the printer profile in the PS print dialogue when letting PS manage color. This is only for the ink sep file, your normal image files, presumably in grayscale don't require this insanity.
