I assume you're scanning in RGB otherwise it will be grainy.  Also, check what the sharpening level is set at as that increases the appearance of grain as well.

Once in pshop, pick the channel that looks the best (R, G or B) and delete the rest.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
