A bit OT: Pointing Devices

2011-11-06 by Richard Smallfield

Hello,
having settled on a trackball for the last few years, I got a
Kensington Expert Mouse recently - but it appeared to be faulty, with
the left button either not clicking, or being sticky - dragging
instead of clicking.

So I got a replacement - same problem.

Has anyone else had this problem with the Kensington ball? Maybe
they've made a bad batch.

I guess I'll be asking for my money back ... but it's odd to have two
bad ones in a row, though I can't imagine how it could be the fault
of the computer. The laptop's left and right buttons work ok. But
strangely, the previous Logitech ball I was using had developed the
same fault, so I'm scratching my head as to what could be causing it,
if not a bad contact in the device.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

thanks,
Richard
