Hope one of you digital printing geniuses can help me out.
I was happily printing piezo with MIS ink on my 980 for several weeks with
narry a problem when after a ten day lay-off (probably irrelevant) I get
prints that looks out of joint in the lower values. Nozzle checks are OK,
carts are full. I do a 21-step wedge check with the Epson driver and it is
perfecto. I do a check with the piezo and yuck! All jammed down in the low
values and bumpy everywhere else.
My normal piezo set-up for EAM is 1.8 gama. and 80% dot gain. Usually I can
print what I see on the screen. I dorked around with gama, dot gain, curves,
and got things looking somewhat better but not great.
What's the deal? Why should the piezo driver go weird and not the Epson
driver??? Don't tell me it's because the moon is at its closest point to
the earth this week.
thanks,
