just to check the inks more accurately. 

You're in for a lot of frustration if inks are in the wrong positions or otherwise the incorrect densities.  I usually recommend people buy MIS pre-loaded carts if they have them for the printer (1400 and 1100).  Since the carts are re-fillable, getting a good result right off the bat is worth the extra cost.
