eboni 6 - problem with ink densities

eboni 6 - problem with ink densities

2012-02-04 by fogmarco

After printing with ut14 on epson 1400 I decide to try the ebony 6 workflow.
I buy the ink and fill new empy cartridge.
Reading the istruction of Paul (thank you paul, i'm printing with your workflow from about 10 years...) I see that the correct densities must to be K C M Lc Lm Y
In my printer, with the new cartridge the densities are: K M Lm C Lc Y.

these are the densities that I can read with spyderprint on epson archivial matte

K 16,34 0,56 -0,62
C 77,28 2,04 1,53
Lc 80,67 1,53 0,44
M 60,36 2,15 2,74
Lm 73,59 2,09 1,87
Y 94,38 1,40 -3,07

I'm sure that I have put the correct ink in the correct cartridge!

what is wrong?

Thank you

Marco

Are these densities based on a QTR Calibration Mode print or an Epson driver purge pattern print? The Epson driver purge patterns are not necessarily accurate with respect to relative ink densities.

It happens.

How to prints look when one of my profiles is used on the specified paper?

The densities are based on a purge pattern print.
However I can see with my eyes that magenta are barker than Cyan.

The 21 step file print light till 70% and then go to black very fast.

I think it would be worth buying a copy of QTR
 http://www.quadtonerip.com/html/QTRdownload.html
just to check the inks more accurately.

You're in for a lot of frustration if inks are in the wrong positions or otherwise the incorrect densities. I usually recommend people buy MIS pre-loaded carts if they have them for the printer (1400 and 1100). Since the carts are re-fillable, getting a good result right off the bat is worth the extra cost.

Thank you Paul.

the problem was the pirnt with epson driver.

With QTR everything is ok. and the cartridge are filled correctly.

Ok, now Ican start to print.

Thank you so much!
