I have a 1400 and usually print on Red River Art White, Polar Gloss or Polar Matte. Can anyone explain the following: > > These ICCs are for the Plus 4 set of B&W inks. Will they work with the UT-14 (six set) of inks? ICCs are specific for the inkset named. usually mine are in Zip files that are linked to PDFs with respect to a specific inkset. UT14 is not the same as Eboni-4 Plus, if that is what the one was referring to. > > Each of the ICCs is listed with a name that is in code, for example: > > 1400-EB4-RR-auoraW-n2-rgb.icc > > I'm assuming this means: > > 1400 printer Yes. > > Ebony 4 ink set Yes. > > Red River Aurora White paper Yes. I think you'll find the Red River Natural uses the same profiles. > > n2 - Neutral 2? There can be more than a single ICC or profile that is "neutral." Sometimes I re-do one for some reason. If there are more than one, just see which one works best for you. > rgb - set color space to RGB? QTR's Create ICC-RGB, which was used to make the ICCs, puts an "rgb" at the end. The plain Create ICC does not. You still use a grayscale file when printing, however. I think if you use an RGB file it will covert it to gray scale prior to applying the embedded curves. > What else do I need to know? It's a good idea to read the PDF I've written on the inkset. An index (not totally complete) of PDFs by printer and inkset name is at http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Inkset-list.html Paul www.PaulRoark.com
