Bill, Cone Editions is still very much alive and well using Iris and other printers to make print editions for artists in a number of mediums. Jon has a tremendous amount of experience and on the Inkjetmall site there is a page containing articles about Jon and his work, which is worth reading. I am sure he is hard at work on the next generation of PiezoBW. If you are not happy telling your clients your prints are only good for 22 years, then you should be trying a quad tone ink se, either pigmented or dye. Any of them are going to offer you paper/ink combinations that will do better than Epson's 22 years. You could go back to saying your prints will last generations.
