[Digital BW] Best inexpensive way to get into Quad/hextones?

2002-03-02 by Paul Roark

Charley,

Check the MIS website list of printers that can use the MIS VM inks. I'd
get one that is compatible with one of the printers listed. Most of those
listed are 13" models, but there are usually less expensive letter-size
models.

Hi :)

I'm just starting to get interested in digital B+W and the prints from
my 2000p just aren't hacking it - too much metamerism especially in B+W.

So I'm hoping to get an inexpensive printer to supplement with,
ideally one that's wide-format and USB which can print very good
quadtones (or hextones, either is fine) with a minimal cash outlay.

I know I could get many of the 8 1/2 x 11 printers for around
$70-$100, and I might end up going that route, but if there's a system
someone could recommend for around $150-$200 that would be
wide-format, that would be ideal for me.

(I'm assuming that I'll use the MIS inkset, as Piezography is just way
too expensive for my taste.)
