Peter, We have the same setup and while I have experienced the image degradation you describe a few times it was always due to a nozzle clog on the black cartridge which cleared up with a nozzle clean or two. The install instruction with my NoMoreCart CIS had a warning about the black tube catching and they said to bend up the corner of the printer housing you are talking about to make sure it does not contact the tube. I did this but the plastic has a memory and tends to sink back down so I have periodically checked it and tugged on the housing to pull it back up again. Maybe yours droops a bit more than the norm and you should consider cutting this corner off altogether. At least the tube didn't break!
