I have been using MIS in a 2400 for six years without many problems.

The "leaks" I have had is a couple of cartridges that dripped when I 
took the plug out to refill them.  Only four times in six years. The 
savings over $12 Epson carts really allowed me to replace those four 
without worrying about expense.

And, yes, I have had chips fail.  Again, it was a cheap replacement over 
buying Epson carts; and only happened a few times.  Since I made an 
intial round of 3-4 Epson sets, I had pulled those chips before tossing 
the carts.  They fit perfectly.
