On my Stylus Photo 1500 (same as Artisan 1430 in the States), with MIS Auto Reset Chips. If you remove, refill and replace a cart which wasn't indicating empty, or at least below warning level. It will not be recognised as full, so will indicate empty when the cart is still actually quite full. I would suggest you only refill this printer/cart combo when the warning shows and only the indicated cart. I don't know if this feature is over-ridden if you short out the two top terminals on the chip and am wary of trying it. My printer has always stopped between prints when it thinks a cart is near empty.
