I would not say I totally ignore the Epson ink monitor. Yesterday, for example, my 1100 stopped mid-job. It indicated one of the carts "could not be recognized." I pulled the cart, and it was near empty. So, to filled all of the carts. The printing job finished without any wasted paper or evidence that I had to re-fill carts in the middle of the print. That works well for me.
