Re: I'm ready to throw my 1430 out

2013-03-11 by rossfmj

As far as I'm aware you cannot over-ride the printer from stopping when it thinks a cart is empty. This seems to often cause frustration. I don't know if there is a chip such as used in Continuous Ink Systems, but that may solve this issue, however you'd need to check levels manually.

Did you refill the carts when the supplies facility showed them as low, or did the light go on indicating they were empty?

It seems the printer doesn't always reset if it indicates low, only when the empty light is on and you change the cart indicated by a light on the cart carrier. I now only refill the cart when the empty indicator is showing. They definitely won't reset if the ink level is above 10%.

Are the carts definitely for the 1430? Apparently the ones for the 1400 need the chip to be manually reset, they won't be reset by pulling out and replacing. I believe this is done by "shorting out" the upper two contacts e.g. touching both at the same time with a bit of bent wire or tweezers (metal).

Up until recently on mine, the empty indicator came on after a print had finished, however recently it came on part way through a print. I refilled the cart and it continued without a problem on the print.

Hope this is helpful.

I parked the carriage, filled each to the top, bled the bottom, reinstalled and it now says that all four are still empty and of course it will not print.
