I'm feeling your pain. I'm not ready to throw my 1430 out, but I'd trade it for a good used 1400 anytime!

I still have one MIS position that won't clear - black. I'm using Epson ink in that position for the time being and that's working but I'd really like to get back to a full set of MIS cartridges and inks. 

I've tried a couple of things to resolve this, none of which worked. 

-long power off and restart, no. 

-long power off with all cart removed, no.

-remove and replace all cartridges, no. 

-re-install all Epson Inks, then re-install MIS inks, no. 

-top up black MIS cart, no. 

-swap MIS cyan ink with MIS black ink; black LED says on, cyan stays off: that's really interesting, but I don't know what it means. To me it means that the issue is not the black cartridge or chip - but then, what is it?

I'll try your re-set suggestion and see what that does. Can anyone confirm that this is the correct way to reset a cart and explain when it should be done?
