The suggestion is to short-circuit two contacts, but you'd need some current flow to do that. I did buy a resetter from Inksupply when I bought a set of empty cartridges for my 2200 last year. It's got a battery in it and an LED that changes from red to green when it determines that the reset is complete. It works, and I've just gotten into the habit of resetting every cartridge when I refill the inks. No problems in ~4 months. The previous cartridges I used were from InkJetMall and were truly auto-resetting (with ~2 years of use), but they discontinued their 2200 supplies. I'm still using their cartridges for my 1400 and don't use a resetter. I should probably buy another couple of sets from them. Pete [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
