Re: [Digital BW] carbon prints on an epson 3800

Hi Les,

Paul just wrote up a good, concise procedure for calibrating a set of Eboni
inks with QTR (posted March 22):

to DigitalBlackan.

As I mentioned in the "Blacks, EB6 and Epson driver" thread, above, I used
a flatbed scanner to profile Red River Polar Matte for QTR. I've
documented the procedure and results at
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/QTR-Flatbed.pdf . Hopefully this plus
Roy's StepWedge Tool (at http://www.quadtonerip.com/html/QTRdownload.html )
will help those with flatbeds and no spectros.

I used much the same procedure to calibrate a 7-shade printer a few weeks
ago (with my own choices for dilutions). My personal experience suggests to
me that the next time I mix up a batch of inks I'll increase the dilution
for most of the shades; the system seems robust enough to handle this kind
of tinkering. Between Paul's years of experimenting and writing and Roy
Harrington's software, this is a pretty capable system.
