Adobe's Cloud

2013-12-01 by Ben Schneider

J.C.,

I will not call Adobe an honorable company, nor would I trust them with my credit information.

I had a problem a few years ago when the neutral for my electrical service corroded at the utilities buss. The voltage on my service went up to 148 volts! Surge protectors do not work when there is that type of malfunction. It fried five hard drives, including the ones with my apps on them. Adobe was the only software company that would not reset my licenses so I could reload my programs. I had to buy upgrades for all my Adobe programs to use the reinstalled programs. It was so kind of them.

I do not trust any company to make automatic withdraws from my bank accounts, nor make automatic charges to my credit cards. I just got done activating a new credit card account because the old account had been hacked. The funny thing is that it was the account which was on file with Adobe because I had to pay them for those new program upgrades. I am wondering if the new card was necessary because of their accounts being hacked a few months ago?

No! I am not at all interested in the creative cloud. Internet service is not good enough here to need to depend on it. Just last week, the Internet service was so poor here, that Safari was timing out before even simple email loaded. It was like that for a week.

I also do not want any automatic updates done to my programs. I lost all my good Epson printer drivers due to Apple's automatic upgrades. I have not been able to replace Some of the drivers. The printer drivers that Apple use as replacements my be fine for the office, but are totally worthless when working with fine prints.

Lastly, the computers, and accessories that I am using are old. The economy of the last dozen years has been hard on me. I can not afford to upgrade anything! Must new programs need better computers, better operating systems, and newer accessories. This is going to keep my head out of Adobe's Cloud.
