That works to get the pattern out of the scan and the print, but you're still going to see it at certain sizes on a display. -----Original Message----- From: Peter Marquis-Kyle Sent: Thursday, March 27, 2014 1:45 AM To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [Digital BW] Moire On 26/03/2014 9:54 PM, Ernst Dinkla wrote: > Scan at the highest resolution possible, print at the highest resolution > possible (finest detail set) so upsampling is done on the data. Ernst, that was good advice to scan at the highest resolution possible. I have just made a print that is perfectly free of moir pattern. I re-scanned the original using 2400 samples/inch (instead of 600). Because the original is larger than the scanner platten I made three overlapping scans, which Photoshop automatically merged for me. It was a straightforward process, but slow. I made a flattened greyscale tif and printed it at 3121.472 pixels/inch -- I'm not sure whether it was QTR or the printer that down-sampled this to the printer's native resolution, but I don't care. The result is just what I wanted. Thanks Ernst, I appreciate your advice! -- Peter Marquis-Kyle ------------------------------------ Please visit the Group Homepage to check the Files, and other resources as they are often being updated. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint If you wish to receive no emails or just a daily digest, or you wish to unsubscribe, please edit your Membership preferences by visiting this same page.
