Digital BW, The Print

I know that most of the discussion on this forum is about third 
party inks and papers.  I was wondering, what is the quality of 
black and white printing using an Epson 1280, standard Epson inks 
and Epson/3rd party papers?

If I don't need 100+ years of longevity, does this combo provide 
reasonable results?  WHat about the quality/flexibility using Duo, 
Tri or Quad tone profiles?

I am trying to figure our whether the standard Epson 1280 will do 
the trick because the cost of an 1160 or 1200 is sky high on Ebay vs 
a new 1280.  This is only a hobby for me. Thoughts?
