I did not know about this and would like to participate. Is there someplace with details to follow?

Good morning Danny...

I am one of the moderators of a Black and White Print Exchange Yahoo group. As many as 12 photographers exchange actual B/W prints each month.
The experience is two sided:
  • On the one hand you need to select and print something that you are willing to exchange. This is an interesting process that drives you to do your best.
  • And on the other hand, you are able to hold in your hands as many as 11 prints from other photographers. You are able to read about their workflow which details inksets, printers, papers, editors, etc.
We print on 8.5 X 11 papers. Photographers print 12 prints (of the same image) and mail the prints to the Print Exchange Coordinator. The Print Exchange Coordinator, once all prints have been received, repackages them and ships them back out to each contributing photographer (one each from all photographers go to each contributor).

While this may sound a bit intimidating I would suggest that this print exchange experience might be very good for your son. I know that it is good for me. The group was formed by Tom O'Connell in 2002. I've been exchanging since 2004. Your son (as is anyone reading this) is welcome.
