I thought the Cxx series had been discontinued. Is there a successor Epson machine that uses the EZ inkset? Or is our only option the 1430 these days? I just want to print gorgeous B&W on 5x7 inch papers.

I love black and white photography. And since I’m on a budget, I was intrigued by the prospect of 4-color printing on a cheap Epson with MIS EZ inks.
I took the plunge and purchased an Epson C88+ from Amazon and a set of Neutral/Matte EZ ink cartridges from MIS. Both came yesterday after a wait of only a few days. Kudos especially to MIS for the quick service.
But so far, “EZ” it hasn’t been. :-)
I’ve decided to chronicle my printing efforts on this forum because, a) I gather there’s a lot of knowledge and experience here with alternate inks and machines, and b) because there seems to be a scarcity of coherent and current information about the C8x plus EZ ink process on the web. Perhaps you all can help me lay a trail of bread crumbs through these posts for others who are new to this approach.
The story begins with my next post. Thanks in advance for suggestions and insights.

Re: [Digital BW] Getting Started With Epson C88+ and EZ Inks

The "EZ" approach requires a 4-ink printer that does not have the light as well as the dark color inks. I have an Epson WorkForce 1100 printer in my office as my main general purpose printer. It has 2 black positions to double the text printing speed. Aside from that, the workflorce machines are 4-ink, ,which means then work as "EZ" printers. That is how I have the 1100 set up. So, there are still machines that support that approach. You may need to fill your own carts, however (or find a CIS that fits). See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/1100.pdf
