I had missed this article on the legal dispute regarding Vivian Maier prints. The article is here:

The issue revolves around this legal concept:
"Under federal copyright law, owning a photograph’s negative or a print is distinct from owning the copyright itself. The copyright owner controls whether images can be reproduced and sold."
So, that locker full of negatives may have less value than one would think.
It's an interesting issue and article.
