Daniel, Since you are using a 1280 on a PC you can take advantage of a set of curves that Tyler Boley kindly developed using Dan Culbertson's RGB soft proof method, Profiler Pro, a Spectrocam photospectrometer and his long experience writing CYMK separation curves for his 3000 with the Adobe Press Ready RIP. These were done specifically done for the VM inks on Photo Rag and the 1280 under Windows. I have posted the curves and driver settings in a zip file in the Files section of the group homepage under: Files > Inksets, reviews and techniques > MIS Variable Mix > 1280 PC MIS VM If you had a copy of Profiler Pro you could also build a pretty accurate monitor profile giving you the best WYSISYG tool for quad/hex work. I think the crv08 curve is about the smoothest I have seen but I prefer the slightly warmer tone of the wm02 curve. If an image does not work well with one curve, try a different one or set up two layers with different curves to combine the effects. Let me know what you think. And a big "THANKS" to Tyler.
