I expect the general approach to work with glossy carbon. The setup shown at http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/4000-6K-Plus.pdf but using a single toner instead of LC and LM would be close to what I'd do as a universal system. I'd use the Canon pigments and the ratio of the blend I used for the 3880. (See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/3880-Eboni-Variable-Tone.pdf at page 3.) However, I'd dilute them with the MIS amber, glossy base (the old "glop"). The generic base c6b is not a glossy base.
I noted the post on the QTR forum about the difficulty of coordinating the tones with the OEM LC and LM. It's tough for most. The single toner that has the Lab A fixed by the blend ratio is an order of magnitude easier and a very good solution for dedicated B&W and fine manual control.
(At the moment, however, the "Eboni" carbon plus Epson matte canvas natural coming off my 9800 is too good to allow me to be distracted by a glossy substrate.)

Thanks, Paul. As you know, I like my glossy prints, but between this PDF and seeing examples of your work you make it very tempting to experiment with matte!
