Re: [Digital BW] soft print

For the best print, you obviously want a perfect nozzle check. The paper, however, might be contributing to the blotchy look of the print.

I'm working with a jpg from my Nikon D90, it measures 4288 x 2848 pixels, ie a 12Mb file. I converted it to b/w using a channels plugin in PSElements 13 and printed it with QuadTone RIP current version in an Epson 1400 on a Windows 10 computer. (Had to convert it to tiff to get my sizing and margins right.)

The resulting print, on Letter size Epson Presentation Matt seems a bit soft. Have had trouble lately getting a good nozzle check in my Cyan position. The upper line is almost empty, missing all but about 2 or 3 dashes. Would a missing line in one of the six carts cause a soft print? Plus, the sky is not as smooth as I'm used to seeing, it's a little blotchy.

Thank you,
