I'd have the dark grays in M and C. With no Photoshop curves or separate rip (QTR), the Epson driver is going to start at the light end with Y, LM and LC. As you get in to dark shadows, the LC and LM will cross over to C and M, which should be appropriately darker.
In a color inkset the Y is high gamut but low density. You can usually profile a fairly wide range of densities there. Light gray will obviously give the smoothest highlights, but not much Y is used in the highlights, so you can get away with a medium density ink there.
Good luck.

I believe I was correct in reading an article on Paul Roark's website about using a quad set in the 2000P
The replacement was
K Black
C DarkGrey
M DarkGrey
LC MedGrey
LM MedGrey
Y LightGrey
From studying a CMYK print-ready image it would seem to me that
C and LC should be DarkGrey and
M and LM should be MedGrey ..
Comments ?
Thanks !
