I am surprised by the response you got from IJM. I had a problem a 
couple og months ago and no queations asked they sent me a new set of 
ink that is working just fine. I also noticed that there is a use by 
date on them

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
