They truely do flush out clogs left by quads, etc. I consider putting Epson carts in first mandatory, both to clean out any lubricant the head shipped with AND to prime the head properly, eliminating air bubbles, so that the aftermarket inks can follow. You're not losing much, remember that unlike the 1160 printer and all aftermarket 1280 carts, the Epson 1280 carts have poppet valves, which immediately seal the ports upon removal. You can use the Epson carts over and over, up to about six months from when you pull the yellow tab off. Jim H.
