Vinny,
      For the most part, when people in this group speak of curves, 
they are talking about a printing system different from Piezo.  
Paul Roark developed a system for B&W inkjet printing using the 
Epson drivers as opposed to the Piezo driver, and in order to use 
this system, a curve must be applied in Photoshop to print the 
image.    A Transfer Function is the method used to modify this 
system to different papers.  Because you are only using the 
Epson driver, you do not have the variety of paper profiles the 
Piezo software provides.
