Re: [Digital BW] Re: Offtopic--Photoshop 6/Mac OSX problem

Got it! It was a scanner/SCSI problem. I took out the Silverfast TWAIN
support that is hidden in preferences, in the TWAIN folder and it works like
a charm. Not a problem for me because I'm using Vuescan 7.5 for OS X to
drive the scanner (works great). The other problem that I've heard of (and
had at first) was having two much memory allocated to Photoshop. I used to
have 1 gig assigned to Photoshop in OS9.2. As I understand it...you can
only use about 490 on a G4 with 1.5Gb of RAM now with OSX. The amount is
less if you have less RAM...there are some posts on this in the USER forum
on Adobe's web site...but nothing that I could find on SCSI devices. As far
as I can tell...when it opens...Photoshop 6 performs equally well under OSX
on my G4 dual 450. I'm looking forward to PS7...but still haven't heard
much about how plugins (e.g., Genuine Fractals, Nik Sharpener Pro, PiezoBW,
etc.). My print server still has OS9.1 and Photoshop 6...maybe I'll have to
keep that for printing piezoBW.
